EUROSAI WGMA 6th Master Class brings together SAIs to share best practices on audit reporting

On 9 April, the EUROSAI Working Group on the Audit of Municipalities (WGMA) hosted its 6th Master Class, welcoming around 130 participants from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) across Europe. Focusing on audit reporting, the event brought together diverse experiences to explore ways to enhance the impact, accessibility, and quality of audit reports. Four SAIs – Bulgaria, Israel, North Macedonia, and Serbia – presented their approaches and tested practices in financial, compliance and performance audit reporting.

Mr. Shay Sapir, Deputy Spokesperson of SAI Israel, opened the master class with a dynamic  presentation “Concise Audit Reporting through Video Clips on Social Media as an Accessibility Enabler”. The presentation demonstrated how video clips, strategically published on social media platforms, can effectively engage citizens and broaden the reach of audit findings making  them more accessible and relatable.

Ms. Marina Blazeska, Assistant Auditor General of SAI North Macedonia, presented audit report writing. She emphasized the importance of structure, clarity and purposeful communication across different types of audits.

Mr. Miloš Mandušić, Senior Audit Advisor for Quality Control of SAI Serbia, shared a comprehensive overview of SAI Serbia’s approach to audit reporting. It was insightful to see how reporting is managed – from writing and visuals to quality control and impact measurement.

Ms. Svetoslava Enimaneva, Chief Auditor, provided a structured look into SAI Bulgaria’s general procedures and findings at the  reporting stage. An overview of reporting procedures was presented across compliance and financial audits, supported by  examples of audit findings and how conclusions and recommendations are framed.

The WGMA 6th Master Class reinforced the role of clarity and introducing new methods for communicating audit results. Providing a  clear and concise report on ideas, and integrating tools for visualisation of complex concepts and data analysis, as well as videos to help SAIs communicate results to the diverse range of the audience which is interested in our findings. Participants gained an understanding of different practices of the SAIs that presented practical examples to enhance the communication of audit results.

Thank you to all presenters and participants for contributing to this insightful and inspiring session!
